ReplyDeleteHey. what do think about the weird mav mods that are online?. i had a friend who i borrowed a mav from, the mods in there were 'orrible. It had been painted jet black, banning it from wars as a start, which had then flaked into the internals.It had foam in it to "make it quieter" which was pawpaw packaging . and I don't like paw paw ಠ__ಠ. The plunger tube had been DRENCHED with Vaseline, the o-ring, which fits perfectly stock, was replaced with one 3 sizes too big, and made the plunger move 15 times slower (seriously, it took three seconds for the plunger to get from the catch, to full extension). inside the plunger, a piece of wood had been hot glued inside to get rid of "dead-space" and there was hot glue in the turret "dead-space". all of the grey turret pieces were removed for the turret removal, which also ruined the seal from the plunger to the turret. The dart-post's had been cut off, but he had left the base of it in, which obstructed airflow. The spring was stretched at a weird angle, that made it impossible (nearly) to get back in the blaster.

P.S. i fixed it for him, and made my own turret drop mod. I suggest you do the same.

Hey. What do you think of some of the online mods for mav's
ReplyDeleteFor example, I borrowed a turret dropping mav from a friend for a war, and was amazed at the mod's he found online to butcher it with. The paint was a mess, and it flaked into the internals. The paint colour was jet black, banning it from any wars. Then, he put foam used to store pawpaw in to make it "quieter" he then coated his plunger with Vaseline, which made the whole gun smell like Vaseline and pawpaw. I HATE pawpaw ಠ__ಠ. anyway, the o-ring had been replaced with one that was 50% too big, and slowed the plunger down (from the catch to full extension, it took 3 seconds, no joke) he had then proceeded to put wood and hot glue in the plunger as "dead-space" elimination. AND hot glue in the "deadspace" in the turret. He had taken out all of the grey securing pieces, which made the seal between the plunger and the turret almost null. inside the turret, he cut out the dart posts, but kept the base of the post there, which obstructs airflow. to annoy me i more time, the spring had been stretched at an angle, making it nearly impossible to re-assemble.
My question is this. Can you uncover some bad mods, or modding mistakes that are popular online. Or just notify the public to any innocent improvements that ruin the blaster?
And Do some of these mods make mav's perform any better?
P.S. I fixed it up and gave it back, like any good modder, and it works like any other penny(5x5cent(I'm Aussie)) modded mav.

But then one day, while i was surfing youtube, i saw your ultimate nerf armory video and that got me interested and since then i have been following your videos and some of your mods. And as i sit here wondering if I would ever be worthy of owning a modified nerf gun done profesionaly by the amazing nerffer known as LordDraconical, i say to myself, no I would never be worthy of owning such a masterpeice of nerffing history. ReplyDeleteHey Drac I have more of a request then a question but my 6 year old brother was just diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia which is a precursor to Leukemia. He has as these things tend to be the most severe and dangerous of the three type of AP anemia and as a result has been in and around the hospital the last few months. In short his bone marrow is not producing red blood cells and as you know you cant survive without those useful little suckers. It is at the point that my family is being forced to move from San francisco to Milwaukee. Right now his best chance for success is a bone marrow match but so far there is only one person in the entire US who is a match. This brings me to my request can you ask your viewers to register to become bone marrow donors? Its free and only takes about 5 minutes, all you have to do is order the kit, for free, then swab the inside of your mouth for a DNA sample and send it back. Dear drac, How do you get your ideas for mods, as in, you get a gun and how would you think of modding it, also why do modders generally prefer the longshot to the the longstrike, Finally how did you get into modding and nerf in general?

ReplyDeleteI was watching your HvZ loadout video, and I noticed that most of your blasters were modded. Now I am pretty new to all of this, so I don't really feel like trying to mod a blaster like the Alpha for fear of ruining it. So what would be a good stock blaster to use as a primary for HvZ?

ReplyDeleteA couple of Vortex verses N-Strike questions I would love to have your opinion on in the context of HvZ gameplay.
My spring modded Praxus can hit ranges up to 90 feet and I really enjoy that but I am wondering if I couldn't get better accuracy out of one of the N-Strike products using tech like Stefan darts. (Which are currently legal in our game.) I would put the accurate range of my Praxus at about 20 feet, can modded N-strike guns match the 90 feet max range and perhaps exceed the 20 foot reliable mark?

ReplyDeleteSo I am almost certain you will have gotten this question (or set of questions really) multiple times before this but I really would like to hear your answer so I will ask them anyways! :)
1.) What got you in to nerf? I understand this is vague and what boy can't say that when he was 10 he just wanted to shoot sh*t? But I was wondering if you always had the love for it or if your passion for it was brought back after a time away from nerf?
2.) What got you into modding nerf guns? You are in college right now and if I had to guess I would say some sort of engineering major. You disect and create new weapons at a pace that seems almost unhuman (vampirian, perhaps? ;)) and then the next day turn around to give your masterpieces to the world!
Lastly, it is not so much a question as a statement of thanks? Thanks for all of the modding guides you have made, they have really helped me get back into something that I once loved so much. From the moment I got a nerf sword from a girlfriend as a joke last winter to my now 15+ gun arsenal you have been the major influence on how to go about nerfing.

Simple version: What do you recommend as a side arm that isn't a Maverick, and is available in Britain?
ReplyDeleteLong version: My University's nerfing society has been using Mavericks as the standard service pistol since it was founded, and we're starting to find them more trouble than they're worth; the rotating mechanism jams, they need a fair amount of modding before they'll fire streamlines, and after all that we still find issues with darts just getting stuck in a chamber, meaning they won't fire and can't be cleared without tweezers. I understand that this kind of thing can be modded out, but since this is for a service pistol that we want to make available for ~20 freshers next year, performing a list of 6 or so mods 20 times over is not going to be feasible, so we need a new sidearm to recommend to newcomers which is satisfying and fun to use, easy to mod to a usable level, reliable, and available from the wholesalers for a reasonably cheap price (let's say no more than £10, or ~$15 retail). Any ideas?
