Good News, Everyone

So SgNerf got his hands on an Elite Rampage and has discovered that it is a direct plunger system. The 75' range claims just went from being a skeptical maybe to a real possibility.

I still don't think that we'll see 75' flat ranges, as that's what the similarly sized Nitefinder generally maxes out at, but I think that 60' flat out of the box is probably guaranteed. More importantly, there is copious room for improvement. I wouldn't be surprised if 80' flat is possible with the correct mods.

I am excited to see clip-fed blasters becoming more competitive. I am also interested to see how these new blasters affect the game of HvZ. While I assume that the prime will still be stronger, I feel like it will be manageable enough to not noticeably impact RoF. With cheap, high-powered blasters being widely available, not to mention new, more stable darts, it will be harder than ever to be a zombie.

    1. It's a big deal because we finally have something more than just Hasbro's word on the whole thing. Both the Xploders and Max Force line had several blasters that claimed ranges like 60', 70' and even 100', in my experience every single one failed to deliver. While I am still skeptical of the range claims, my knowledge tells me that at the very least that they are capable of such ranges and thus are worth picking up.

A direct plunger system also means a much easier prime to unit of spring power than just a simply upgraded reverse plunger system. Based on my experience with Orange Mod Works kits, just because a blaster is capable of certain ranges doesn't mean that it's practical to mod it as such.

In short, we are less excited that Elite could possibly hit 75'; we already assumed that it could. We're more excited that Elite will be using Longshot-style internals.

  2. 75ft out of the box is one thing, what about AR removed ranges? :P

a LongShot out of the box can barely pull 30. just saying. Loving the Direct Plungers though, people will be taken down with recons LOL

    1. To be fair, the Longshot also features a heavy air restrictor. I'm not saying that Elite definitely won't have air restrictors, but if they do they will most certainly be of a new design. Chances are that a simple air restrictor removal won't add as much range as people are expecting.

  4. I'd been thinking that they might be Direct plungers after seeing that the stock attachment section didn't have a huge thing sticking out. I was skeptical but it's good to see
